About the role

Are you a caring kaiako looking for an environment that reflects your values? We are proud to be guided by RIE and Reggio Emilia philosophies, embracing respectful practice, strongrelationships, and child-led exploration. Our excellent ratios ensure kaiako have the time to engage meaningfully with tamariki and support rich learning experiences. Our thoughtfully designed spaces reflect aroha and intention. Each age group enjoys dedicated indoor and outdoor environments, regularly refreshed with new learning provocations to inspire curiosity. Our outdoor areas exceed Ministry of Education requirements, offering natural climbing opportunities that support physical development, strength, and coordination. We value loose parts play, a love of books, and meaningful connections with the natural world. Our tamariki thrive in our Rongoā-ma-Tāne nature garden, exploring all seasons—rain or shine (we’ve got the wet weather gear ready!). Our onsite cook provides nourishing kai to keep our busy learners fuelled throughout the day. Ōmaka is privately owned by a dedicated couple who are actively involved in the day-to-day life of the centre and genuinely care about their team. We endeavour to have all our kaiako working within their preferred age group, as part of a collaborative and passionate team. Our curriculum leader supports kaiako to create learning stories that are concise, meaningful, and impactful for whānau. Our infant and toddler teams work closely together, with an open-door philosophy and shared outdoor environment, creating a rich, dynamic space full of opportunities for exploration and connection. We are currently seeking a certificated kaiako for 30–40 hours per week. If our values align with yours, we would love to hear from you. Call us, email, or pop in for a visit—we’d be delighted to meet you. Please note that we are not able to support visa applications at this time.
