About the role

An exciting leadership opportunity exists for an experienced, highly motivated, and future-focused educator to join our vibrant state-integrated Catholic primary school in Ashburton, South Island. We are seeking an outstanding leader who is passionate about teaching and learning, committed to student success, and eager to make a significant contribution to our school community. This is a teaching deputy principal position that includes: Classroom teaching responsibility in our senior school Leadership of the senior school Curriculum development and school wide assessment responsibilities The successful applicant will: Be an exceptional classroom practitioner with a proven record of raising student achievement. Demonstrate strong curriculum and assessment knowledge. Have excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Build positive relationships with students, staff, and our community. Lead with integrity, warmth, and a collaborative approach. Be committed to inclusive education and supporting the diverse needs of all learners. Inspire both students and colleagues through high expectations and a commitment to continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to join a supportive, virtues -based school with a strong sense of community and a commitment to academic excellence, wellbeing, and Catholic special character. This will be a Schedule 6, Cl 50 position which requires “particular capabilities on the part of the teacher holding it”, as prescribed by the school’s Integration Agreement. Requirements of the position in primary schools specifies that “capabilities to maintain programmes and activities that reflect the special character of the school shall be a condition of appointment”. Applicants must therefore be willing and able to uphold the school's special character and be eligible to teach in New Zealand.
