Year 7 / Year 8: Rumaki / Bilingual Kaiako

Ōrewa College is a high-performing Year 7–13 school nestled on the Hibiscus Coast. We are seeking an enthusiastic Year 7 or Year 8 kaiako to join Te Whānau Taipari , our growing Māori-medium pathway, from Term 1, 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to teach an ‘intermediate’ homeroom class across the curriculum in a bilingual or full-immersion setting, supporting ākonga to grow in their learning, identity, confidence and use of te reo Māori. We are looking for an excellent teacher who builds strong relationships, holds high expectations for ākonga and wants to contribute positively to this kaupapa. We welcome applications from kaiako who are confident speakers of te reo Māori, as well as teachers who have reo and are continuing to develop their fluency and confidence. Te Whānau Taipari was established in 2026 and continues to grow. Kaiako are well supported by a growing department and Senior Leadership committed to Māori-medium education within the College. Level 1 Māori Immersion Teaching Allowance (MITA) is available.
