About the role
Frankley School is seeking a new tumuaki / principal who will lead the kaupapa of our school vision by showing Tū kaha (courage and strength), Tū manaaki (caring for self, others, and the environment) and leading Tū ako (quality teaching and learning). This is a rare opportunity to lead our well-loved school in Ngāmotu, New Plymouth. Frankley School features a rich history and a legacy of inspirational leadership. Established in 1853 in a farmyard barn, our kura relocated to its current semi-rural, native bush setting in 1969, offering students an idyllic learning environment. We are seeking an inspiring and future-focused leader to confidently take us into our next chapter. Frankley School is an attractive U4 contributing (Years 0–6) school with a roll of approximately 270 students. Our collaborative team includes a fully released tumuaki tuarua (DP), a team of creative teachers working across our innovative teaching hubs / Puna Ako, dedicated part-time and release educators and a deeply committed support staff. At our kura, learning is a personalised, collaborative journey backed by strong whānau engagement. Staff and students learn alongside one another, grounded in a meaningful tuakana / teina kaupapa. We are committed to living Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Our core school vision; Tū Kaha, Tū Manaaki, Tū Ako (Courageous Caring Learner) is the heartbeat of our school culture, guiding everything we do. As our new tumuaki, you will inherit a highly capable staff team and enjoy the full support of an active, engaged board and an enthusiastic school social and fundraising committee. If you are a community minded leader whose educational philosophy aligns with our vision, we would love to hear from you. Visits to our school are warmly welcomed.
