About the role

Te Pae is a brand-new kura opening in Westgate in January 2027. Built on strong kaupapa Maaori foundations alongside our local iwi, Te Kawerau aa Maki, we are creating a culturally grounded environment where aakonga and whaanau can thrive. We are seeking a passionate, committed and proficient te reo Maaori-speaking Kaiako to join our team and work alongside our Kaiako Matua to establish and grow our Maaori-medium pathway. Te tuuranga | The role You will: Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in a Maaori-medium environment. Use te reo Maaori confidently as the language of learning. Embed kaupapa Maaori, tikanga Maaori and maatauranga Maaori in your practice. Build strong relationships with aakonga, whaanau and kaimahi. Contribute to our Maaori-medium pathway and kura-wide culture. Support the growth and normalisation of te reo Maaori across Te Pae. Ngaa puumanawa | Skills and experience We are looking for someone who: Is a registered and proficient te reo Maaori-speaking kaiako. Has strong knowledge of te reo Maaori me oona tikanga. Understands kaupapa Maaori and culturally responsive pedagogy. Is passionate about Maaori-medium education. Builds authentic relationships with aakonga, whaanau and community. Is collaborative, adaptable and committed to professional growth. Holds high expectations for aakonga and their learning.
