About the role
Ki te moemoeā ahau, Ko ahau anake, ki te moemoeā e tātou, ka taea... – Princess Te Puea Herangi
Are you passionate about empowering rangatahi to live confidently and proudly as Māori? We are seeking an inspiring Reo Rua Teacher to join our supportive learning environment. This position is tailored for students who thrive in a bilingual setting and have a strong desire to maintain and deepen their connection to tikanga and te reo o te iwi Māori.
In this role, you will help students reach their full potential while understanding their vital roles within whānau, hapū, iwi, and the broader community. You’ll support students to naturally switch between te reo Māori and English to enhance understanding across all curriculum areas. Using kapa haka to make learning engaging, you will build identity, belonging, and connections grounded in perseverance, commitment, confidence, and inclusiveness.
Our integrated curriculum brings Te Ao Māori to life through calendar events, including kapa haka instruction, Matariki celebrations, local Tainui protocols, and participation in hui and ceremonies such as Koroneihana and Poukai.
We are looking for an educator with a valid NZ Practising Certificate, strong proficiency in te reo Māori and tikanga, and a commitment to relational, culturally responsive pedagogy.
School visits are welcome.
