About the role
Piritahi Childcare, Waiheke Island Piritahi Childcare is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our supportive team in a permanent, full-time position. Located within the beautiful grounds of Piritahi Marae on Waiheke Island, we are a kaupapa Māori early learning service committed to nurturing mokopuna through strong relationships, te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and meaningful connections to our marae, whenua and natural environment. Our curriculum is guided by Te Whāriki – Te Ara Māori. Mokopuna participate in karakia, waiata, mihi, pūrākau, kapa haka and child-led, investigative and play-based learning. Regular hīkoi to the marae, māra kai, ngahere, maunga and takutai strengthen their identity, belonging and connection to te ao Māori. We are looking for a kaiako who: Holds a recognised ECE teaching qualification and current practising certificate Is committed to kaupapa Māori education and culturally responsive practice Can confidently use, or is committed to developing, te reo Māori me ōna tikanga Values respectful relationships with mokopuna, whānau and colleagues Is warm, creative, reflective, reliable and collaborative Enjoys supporting child-led exploration, play and investigation.
