Head of Social Sciences

We are seeking an experienced and visionary educator to lead our Social Sciences Department. This pivotal role requires a leader who can drive the implementation of new curriculum, assessment, and reporting processes, with a particular focus on compulsory Year 9 and 10 Social Studies for 2027 and Years 11, 12 and 13 from 2028. You will lead a dedicated team of experienced teachers and a department that offers a diverse range of programmes including Junior Social Studies, History, Geography, Senior Social Studies with Psychology, Tourism, and Classical Studies. Please state your senior teaching specialism. Requirements Proven leadership experience and the ability to inspire and motivate a professional team through a change cycle. Deep familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum, particularly at the Junior level (Years 9–10) and through to NCEA Level 3 and Scholarship. A willingness to keep abreast of the new developments in these areas. A commitment to working within a Culturally Responsive and Relational Framework. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A willingness to contribute to the co-curricular and professional life of the school.
