About the role
We are seeking 2 experienced learning coaches (teachers) and aspiring or experienced middle leaders to join our passionate and curriculum middle leadership team as a Learning Designer. Learning area leadership responsibilities in languages or social sciences or mathematics are likely. To start Term 1 2027. What is a Learning Designer? Learning Designers (LDs) work collaboratively to support the implementation and delivery of our school-wide local and connected curriculum streams. While operating as a team, they each also oversee the depth and breadth of learning area specific teaching and learning. In addition to curriculum responsibilities, our LDs also support the school-wide professional learning (learning design & pedagogies/practices) in these areas and support Kāinga Designers in the practice leadership of 9-12 learning coaches and approx. 200 learners belonging to a Kāinga (home location and home team within the school). There are some similarities but also many important distinctions between this role and the roles of HOF/HOD or or subject-only curriculum leader roles applicants may be familiar with from other settings. Both an individual and collective / school-wide focus is required. About us Ormiston Junior College is a rapidly growing, richly diverse mix of 1550 learners across Year 7–10 with a predicted roll of 1850 over the next 2-3 years. Our staff of 150 is an incredible mix of educators and support staff from both secondary and primary backgrounds and experiences, spanning all fields of knowledge, wide-ranging industry and expertise.
