About the role
Me mahi tahi tātou mō te oranga o te katoa. Working in collaboration benefits the collective. Are you an experienced ECE leader who enjoys bringing people together, strengthening teaching practice, and creating a kindergarten environment where tamariki, whānau and kaiako feel a true sense of belonging? Mayfield Kindergarten is looking for a confident and capable head kaiako to lead our dedicated teaching team and continue building strong connections with our diverse and vibrant local community. Mayfield Kindergarten is a warm, inclusive and culturally rich learning environment where tamariki are supported to grow as confident, capable and curious learners. We have a strong focus on community, whanaungatanga and meaningful relationships with tamariki and whānau. Parents and whānau are encouraged to be part of kindergarten life, and we value the knowledge, languages, cultures and experiences they bring. As head kaiako, you will provide professional leadership across teaching practice, team development and the day-to-day management of the kindergarten. You will lead with warmth, clarity and purpose, supporting a collaborative team culture where kaiako feel valued, guided and encouraged to keep growing. Our ideal candidate will be a qualified and registered ECE kaiako with a current practising certificate and first aid certificate, at least five years’ ECE experience, and proven leadership experience, ideally within an early childhood setting. You will demonstrate strong pedagogical leadership, build trusted relationships with tamariki, whānau, kaiako and the wider community, and confidently lead bicultural practice in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) offers a competitive salary and benefits package, professional learning and development, and access to the shared knowledge of our wider network of kindergartens and KiNZ centres across Tāmaki Makaurau.
