Primary School Teacher

Kaharoa School is seeking an effective classroom teacher who can create a positive, well-structured learning environment where students are challenged, supported and encouraged to make strong progress. Strong curriculum knowledge, effective assessment practice, positive behaviour management, and the ability to build strong relationships with students and whānau will be important. We are looking for someone who is organised, works positively as part of a team, has high expectations for learners, and is keen to contribute to the wider life of the school. The position is likely to be in the Years 4–6 area, although the final year level will depend on the strengths and experience of the successful applicant. Kaharoa School is a rural Year 0–8 school on the outskirts of Rotorua. We are large enough to provide a wide range of opportunities while remaining small enough to know our students and families well. We have spacious grounds, excellent facilities, well-resourced classrooms and a collegial staff. These underpin our positive approach to learning, behaviour and growing strong character. This is one of three full-time teaching positions for 2027, arising from internal promotion and role changes. Two positions are permanent and one is fixed term for parental leave cover. Our priority is appointing outstanding classroom teachers, with some flexibility in teaching level depending on the strengths and experience of successful applicants. A leadership unit may also be available for interested applicants but is not a requirement of the position.
