Head of Department: Technology

We are seeking an innovative, strategically minded, and collaborative leader to head our well-established and progressive Technology Department, starting at the beginning of the 2027 academic year. About the role As Head of Department, you will provide strategic vision, operational management, and curriculum leadership for a dedicated team of 15 educators across a broad range of Technology disciplines. This is a pivotal middle management leadership role within the college, responsible for driving excellence, supporting teacher growth, and shaping the future direction of technology education across Years 9–13. Specialist educators from any Technology discipline are encouraged to apply. Key attributes and responsibilities Strategic curriculum leadership: proactively guide and support the department through national Technology curriculum revisions and NCEA assessment changes, ensuring high-quality, forward-thinking teaching practices. Student-centred and diverse pathways: cultivate learning environments that foster high engagement and drive achievement across both academic NCEA Achievement Standards and vocational Industry Trade pathways. Team development and culture: empower, mentor, and build staff capability within a large team, bringing an encouraging, adaptable, and inspiring leadership style. Resource and departmental management: oversee the operational needs, safety, and modern learning spaces of a high-volume, dynamic learning area.
