About the role

Our school is a Catholic state integrated school for students Year 1-8 situated in Timaru. About the role We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative teacher to join our team, working with a class in the Year 5-7 area of the school. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to effective teaching practices, positive classroom management, and have a good sense of humour. Key skills and expertise: Structured literacy: Sound knowledge and formal training in Structured Literacy practices, with proven experience applying these within the refreshed English Curriculum. Mathematics pedagogy: Demonstrated alignment with the pedagogical approach of Rob Proffitt-White. We want a teacher who moves beyond simply following a commercial programme by embedding Rich Routines, explicit teaching, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning into their mathematics programme. Culture and values: Familiarity or a willingness to be involved with the E Tū Tāngata mindset, promoting a culture where every individual knows their value and supports others. Collaboration: A genuine team player who works well alongside colleagues and actively engages with innovative ideas. Desirable strengths: We welcome applicants who can bring additional passions to our school community, particularly in music, leading kapa haka, or driving cultural development across the school. The successful applicant is expected to recognise and respect the school's Catholic special character and be actively involved in the total life of the school in a manner which respects religious instruction given and religious observances practiced within the school.
