About the role
Wairarapa College is seeking an enthusiastic and relational Alternative Education Teacher to support quality teaching, student wellbeing and positive pathways for learners in our Alternative Education programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join Wairarapa’s largest secondary school and work with a small group of targeted students, strengthening attendance, literacy, numeracy, engagement and transition pathways. We are looking for an educator who builds strong relationships with rangatahi, whānau, staff and external agencies, and who provides calm, consistent routines that support learning and wellbeing. A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, culturally responsive practice, Te Ao Māori and the wider life of the school is essential. The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the relevant collective agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $62,862 to $105,686 depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The individual's actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
