Attendance Officer

Organisation: Te Pūtahi Māori o Manurewa (covering Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Manurewa & Te Wharekura o Manurewa, Y1–13) Hours and FTE: 0.6 FTTE (24 hours per week, 52-week position) Remuneration: $55,000–$68,000 per annum (FTE full-time equivalent, pro-rata for 0.6 FTTE) per the Support Staff in Schools' Collective Agreement Location and report: Manurewa, Auckland; reports to Tumuaki / Senior Leadership Team Core purpose and key responsibilities Grounded in Te Aho Matua, this role acts as a relational bridge between ākonga, whānau, Kura, and support networks to address root causes of non-attendance through mana-enhancing practices . Whānau and community partnership: Build trusting relationships with whānau, lead joint hui with pastoral teams, and co-design tailored student reintegration plans . Agency liaison: Manage referrals to regional Attendance Service Providers, coordinate joint casework, and track non-enrolled students (NES) and school transfers . Data and internal collaboration: Track daily rolls using the MoE STAR framework, lead early interventions for irregular absences, and present weekly data reports to the Tumuaki and Board . Qualifications and competencies Conversational fluency in Te Reo me ōna Tikanga Māori operating in a Kaupapa Māori context . Experience in education support, social work, youth work, or advocacy with strong knowledge of the local Manurewa community, iwi, and hapū networks . Proficiency in school management software (e.g., KAMAR, ETAP, ASA portal) . Must hold a full, clean NZ Driver's Licence and pass a Children’s Worker Safety Check (including Police Vetting) under the Children's Act 2014 .
