About the role

Manurewa High School is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centred English and media studies teacher to join our collaborative, diverse and creative department. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working across both subject areas. The successful applicant will teach a mix of junior and senior English classes, alongside media studies across Years 10–13. Our programmes are developed through collaborative planning and resourcing, with a strong focus on learning that is engaging, relevant and responsive to our ākonga. We are looking for someone who will contribute ideas, share effective practice and work collegially with the English and media studies curriculum leadership team and wider department. We value teachers who build strong relationships with ākonga and bring creativity, curiosity and a passion for language, storytelling and media. Strong culturally sustaining practice, a commitment to mana ōrite mō te mātauranga Māori, and an understanding of the evolving New Zealand Curriculum are essential. The role includes: Teaching junior and senior English classes. Teaching media studies across Years 10–13. Collaborating with the English and media studies curriculum leadership team and wider department. Supporting assessment, moderation and tracking practices. Designing engaging, relevant and culturally responsive learning experiences. Promoting equity and positive outcomes for all ākonga. About Manurewa High School Manurewa High School is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest and most diverse secondary schools, with approximately 2,400 ākonga. We serve a predominantly Pasifika and Māori community and are committed to teaching and learning that is mana-enhancing, culturally sustaining and responsive to the identities, cultures and experiences of our learners.
