Director of Special Character

Sacred Heart College Napier is a state-integrated Catholic Secondary School for Years 9-13 girls, located in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay. We seek an outstanding Catholic leader to join our senior leadership team as director of special character. This position provides an exciting opportunity to further shape and strengthen the Catholic identity and mission of our kura. The successful applicant will: Have a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and Catholic education. Provide strategic leadership of the College's Catholic Special Character. Lead Catholic spiritual formation that is culturally attentive, invitational, inclusive and reflects the context of Aotearoa New Zealand Coordinate liturgies, retreats and sacramental opportunities to support young people to encounter the person of Jesus Christ. In partnership with the principal intentionally and strategically grow the leadership capacity of teachers holding special character positions. Build and sustain meaningful partnerships with parishes and The Diocese of Palmerston North. Lead Catholic special character internal evaluation. Partner with the principal to promote the mission, RNDM charism and the HEART Gospel values of the College. As the Director of Special Character, you will be expected to give guidance and provide effective leadership in Religious Education and observances throughout the school. This is a special character position which means a willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the school is a condition of appointment. Position to commence 28 January 2027. Your application must be accompanied by a Cl 47 Form to indicate relevant qualifications and experience related to Catholic Special Character.
