Experienced Year 5-8 Teacher – STEM/Science Strength an Advantage

Te Kura o Tawatawa - Ridgway School

Full time, PermanentPrimary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi

Listed 3 Sept 2026 · Closes 11 Sept 2026

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced teacher to join our senior school at Te Kura o Tawatawa – Ridgway School in 2027. We are an innovative and creative full primary on the ridgeline in south Wellington, close to both the city and the coast. Our senior students enjoy a wide range of opportunities, including our own technology programme (hard materials, digital technologies/STEM, sound and vision, garden-to-table), music and band, the arts, using the city as a classroom, extension programmes and camps. We’re looking for a teacher who will bring their own interests, expertise and ideas to the mix. A particular strength or passion in STEM and/or science would be a real plus, especially for someone excited by practical, investigative and project-based learning. We value authentic, hands-on learning and finding ways for our students to make a difference in their community. To get an idea of the Ridgway vibe, have a listen to our ' recent RNZ story ' about students designing and building houses for kororā and read our story about ' Future Cities Reimagined '. We’re looking for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic teacher who builds great relationships, enjoys trying new things and wants to contribute beyond their own classroom. You’ll be joining a talented, eclectic staff and a sense of humour is essential!
