About the role

Mehemea ka hiahia koe ki te tono mai ki te tūranga tēnā, tukuna mai tō tātai pūmanawa hei tirotiro mā mātou. After 25 years of dedicated leadership, our tumuaki is retiring. We are seeking a new tumuaki to lead Te Wharekura o Manaia into the next stage. This position is permanent, commencing in Term 1, 2027. We are seeking a tumuaki who demonstrates experience and strength in: Te reo Māori me ngā tikanga o Hauraki: a deep understanding and commitment to our language, culture and identity. Curriculum knowledge across Tau 1–Tau 13: the ability to lead and support high-quality teaching and learning. Strong leadership experience: the vision and confidence to lead Te Wharekura o Manaia. Collaborative leadership: build strong relationships with mokopuna, kaiako, whānau, iwi, Mana Whakahaere and local/external agencies. Raising ākonga achievement and learning opportunities: ensure every mokopuna is supported to reach their potential. Continuing the aspirations and kaupapa of Te Wharekura o Manaia: while leading with vision and purpose into the future. Te Wharekura o Manaia, is a designated kura-ā-iwi wharekura based in Manaia, Coromandel alongside our onsite puna reo, Te Pūtahitanga o te Rukenga o Ngā Wai and represented by four iwi - Ngāti Maru, Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Whanaunga and Ngāti Pūkenga. We align to mātāpono that guide our learning and represent our connections to our iwi, Manaia village and Hauraki communities.
