To apply, please visit our website https://www.nhs.school.nz/employment-2-2/ Te Kura Āwhina Ora o te Raki (Northern Health School) is a Ministry of Education-funded school that provides education and transition support for Year 0–14 students whose health conditions prevent them from attending their regular schools. We are a large, geographically dispersed school with sites across the North Island, from Gisborne and Taranaki to the far north (Kaitaia). This is a permanent, part-time (0.6FTTE) Scale A teaching position that will also attract an annual full-time allowance of $6,000 to 12,000 pro rata to hours worked, depending on experience teaching in Te reo Māori. Permanent teachers at our school are also entitled to one health school management unit. Te Kaiako Māori is responsible for the delivery of high-quality, culturally responsive teaching and learning programmes aligned with Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Working with ākonga who are enrolled in Māori-medium settings, including Kura Kaupapa Māori, Wharekura, Kura-ā-Iwi, and rūmaki classes in mainstream schools, you will co-construct Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), assess progress, and support ākonga who are unwell to transition back to their kura rēhita. You will need to be fluent in te reo Māori with deep knowledge of mātauranga Māori and experience teaching within Māori-medium education settings While our preference is that this role be based in the mid-North or Tauranga, other locations would be considered within our school’s geographic coverage area.
