Head of Faculty Arts and Languages

Forest View High School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Head of Faculty – Arts and Languages to join our leadership team from the beginning of 2027. We are looking for an experienced secondary teacher who is passionate about leading curriculum development, supporting staff and improving outcomes for our ākonga. The successful applicant will: Provide strong curriculum and pastoral leadership across the Arts & Languages learning areas. Lead and support a collaborative, innovative and student-focused faculty. Monitor student progress and achievement and use evidence to inform teaching and learning. Support staff to develop effective teaching and learning programmes. Build strong relationships with students, whānau and colleagues. Contribute positively to the wider leadership and strategic direction of Forest View High School. Demonstrate a commitment to culturally responsive practice and equitable outcomes for all students. Teaching The successful applicant will teach within their area of specialist expertise and will also be required to teach STEM-related subjects as part of their teaching load. Applicants should therefore be adaptable and confident working across curriculum areas. We are seeking someone who: Holds a current New Zealand practising certificate. Has sound secondary teaching experience. Has demonstrated leadership experience or is ready to take the next step into a Head of Faculty role. Is an effective communicator and collaborative team member. Has strong curriculum, assessment and pedagogical knowledge. Is committed to high expectations for student achievement and wellbeing. Builds positive and respectful relationships with ākonga, whānau and colleagues. Is innovative, flexible and willing to contribute to the wider life of the school.
