About the role

Commencing 26 January 2027 - advise your specialty areas of Teaching when applying. The Assistant Rector (Assessment & NZQA Principal’s Nominee) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team responsible for leading and maintaining assessment integrity throughout the College. This role ensures that assessment programmes align with the New Zealand Curriculum and meet the requirements both of the schools internal processes and NZQA’s assessment procedures. Key responsibilities 1. Strategic Curriculum Leadership Support Heads of Department (HODs) in aligning assessment programmes with national standards and College strategic goals. 2. Assessment Management & NZQA Compliance (Principal’s Nominee) Act as the primary liaison between the College and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Oversee all internal assessment quality assurance, internal moderation, and external moderation procedures. Manage student entry data, derived grade applications, assessment rules, breach investigations, and appeals processes. Organize external NCEA examination logistics, including briefing staff, students, and supervision personnel. Organisation and administration of schools examinations including derived grade exams. 3. Academic Data & Student Achievement 4. Senior Leadership & Catholic Character Contribute to the holistic governance, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations of the College as an active SLT member. Actively support, model, and promote the Catholic Marist character and values of St Patrick's College Silverstream. Key relationships Internal: Rector, Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Department (HODs), Deans, Teaching Staff, and Students. External: New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), Ministry of Education, and Parent/Whānau Community. Person specification Qualifications: Registered teacher status in New Zealand with proven senior teaching experience. Experience: Strong background in curriculum leadership, NCEA framework administration, and data-informed decision-making. Capabilities: Deep knowledge of NZQA regulations, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to supporting Catholic Marist education.
