About the role

Are you passionate about inclusive education? Do you thrive in busy, fun-loving environments? Are you an experienced SENCO, LSC, RTLB, Outreach Teacher or similar? If so, we’d love to hear from you! We are seeking an experienced LSC to work within our Learning Support team. This is a permanent 0.8 part-time position, with potential to become full-time in the future. The start date is Term 1 2027. We are after someone who: Has a strong understanding of inclusive education and learning support systems in Aotearoa New Zealand. Understands high and complex needs. Is confident in navigating Ministry processes (ORRS, IWS, High Health Needs, etc.). Brings experience in SENCO and/or LSC roles or similar Understands the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice in supporting diverse learners. Enjoys collaborating and working as part of a team. Is a solutions-focused, creative thinker. The successful applicant will: Work with the SLT/Principal/SENCO around referrals for special needs intervention, both learning and behavioural, and determine the appropriate level of support needed. Co-lead the Kaiāwhina Team, providing PLD, support and feedback. Work with the SLT/Principal/SENCO to design and implement programmes for individual students with special learning and behavioural needs and conduct IEPs Individual Learning Plans and IBP Individual Behaviour Plans. Attend transition meetings and co-construct transition plans Work with the SLT/Principal/SENCO to facilitate transition of students with special needs and learning and behavioral challenges from Year Six to Year Seven Coordinate and/or assist with the preparation, delivery and evaluation of programmes to meet the needs of staff, students and families/whanau of special needs students or students with learning and behavioural challenges. Complete referrals, induction meetings, observations and follow ups as required/appropriate. Provide coaching for teachers in regards to inclusive practices
