About the role
CRHS City is seeking a passionate and adaptable teacher to join our full-day programme supporting students with mental health needs. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of rangatahi who have been out of school due to mental health challenges. Our integrated programme combines education and therapeutic support, helping students re-engage with learning and work toward successful transitions back to school or alternative pathways. Teachers work in small groups, whole class, and one-on-one, adapting the New Zealand Curriculum to meet individual learning and wellbeing needs. You’ll collaborate within a multidisciplinary team—including mental health professionals, whānau, and schools of enrolment—to design and deliver personalised programmes that reflect each student’s goals and strengths. We’re looking for someone who is: Empathetic, flexible, and trauma-informed in their approach. Resilient and grounded, with a sense of humour, common sense, and self-confidence. Demonstrates ethical behaviour, initiative, and a strong commitment to ongoing professional learning - especially in mental health, wellbeing, and inclusive education. Experienced with strong curriculum knowledge across Years 9-13. Expertise in senior Mathematics would be an advantage. Skilled at building trust and leading learning spaces with calm and clarity. Able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Requirements: NZ registered teacher with a current practising certificate. Full, clean NZ driver licence and access to a private vehicle for work travel. This role involves travel across the greater Wellington region while supporting students with transition. It suits someone who thrives in dynamic environments and values collaboration, resilience, and student-centred practice.
