About the role
We are seeking an amazing kaiako to join our Year 4-5 auraki (bilingual) whānau in 2027. Te Kura ō Te Pāroa is a kura with a strong commitment to Ngāti Awatanga and te reo Maori. We are developing a strong Aka Mātauranga (High Impact Teaching Practices) approach, using evidence-informed teaching practices within a Māori-medium setting. Our kaiako are supported to develop consistent, explicit and highly engaging teaching practices through te reo Māori. This includes purposeful classroom routines, daily review, active participation strategies, clear lesson design, and teaching approaches informed by how tamariki learn and retain new knowledge. Puts tamariki and their learning first, with high expectations for achievement, progress and behaviour. Is hardworking, well-organised and committed to delivering effective, well-planned lessons every day. Uses explicit teaching practices, including I do, we do, you do, checking for understanding and our kura engagement norms. Uses assessment information to plan teaching, monitor progress and respond to learning needs. Is reflective, open to feedback and committed to continually improving their teaching practice. Is committed to bilingual education, with capability in te reo Māori and an understanding of tikanga Māori. Works collaboratively, communicates effectively with whānau and contributes positively to the kura. Embraces Ngāti Awatanga and is willing to deepen their knowledge of our local histories, mātauranga and tikanga. Beginning teachers who are motivated, hardworking and eager to develop their teaching practice are encouraged to apply.
