About the role
We are seeking an experienced and committed leader to head our well-established Physical Assistance Centre (PAC), supporting students with a wide range of needs, from hearing impairment through to severe physical disability. Our PAC plays a vital role in ensuring students are included in mainstream learning wherever possible, while also providing targeted teaching and specialist support within the centre. This position offers the opportunity to lead a skilled, caring team that includes a dedicated group of teacher aides and one other teacher. The successful applicant will provide professional leadership across the centre, ensuring high-quality programmes that promote student wellbeing, independence, engagement, and achievement. We are looking for a person who brings strong knowledge, empathy, and practical capability in working with students with physical disabilities and complex needs. You will be a collaborative, solutions-focused leader who communicates clearly and respectfully with students, staff, and whānau/caregivers. The role requires the confidence and judgement to manage challenging situations calmly, maintaining student safety and dignity while guiding others with consistency and care. Key responsibilities include coordinating and reviewing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), supporting inclusion and transitions, managing resources and a budget, and maintaining effective communication and partnerships with caregivers and relevant external agencies. If you are an organised, proactive educator who thrives in a team environment and is passionate about inclusive education, we welcome your application.
