About the role
We are expanding from 1 to 2 kindergartens. The current kindergarten roll will be 40 children 2 1/2 and over and the new kindergarten 27 children under 2 1/2. Hours of operation 8.30am to 4.30pm (this may vary due to community need). This is an exciting opportunity for someone to lead the new kindergarten from the early stages as staff are appointed, licensing and children start attending. You will have a close working relationship with the general manager and the head teacher of the existing kindergarten. Key responsibilities Lead a commitment to providing high-quality and effective teaching and engage in professional, respectful and collaborative relationships with colleagues. Promote the wellbeing of learners and protect them from harm, respect the diversity of heritage, language, identity, and culture of all learners, and affirm Māori learners as tangata whenua. Engage in professional and respectful relationships with families and whānau, engage them in their children's learning, and work in partnership to ensure positive outcomes for tamariki. About you Current knowledge of current trends and practices within the ECE sector. Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice. Ability to show initiative and contribute to problem solving in a professional and effective manner. Leadership skills that contribute to effective teaching, learning and team culture. We recently celebrated our 75th jubilee and have been providing quality childhood education while responding to our community needs. The Central South Island Kindergartens deliver senior teacher professional support, and we work closely with the 3 other kindergarten associations in our area. This means that our head teachers and teachers are able to be part of a larger supportive environment where we have a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. At Geraldine District Free Kindergarten Association we pride ourselves on our positive team culture which is positive nonjudgmental, respectful and professional.
